IELTS ACADEMIC AND GENERAL WRITING TASK 1 OVERVIEW

Amon seeg all the English language tests, the IELTS test has a very special importance. There are two modules in this test.
1. The IELTS academic test 
2. The IELTS  general training test
In both the variants of the test, there are four parts of the language which are tested. 
1. Listening
2. Reading
3. Writing
4. Speaking.
There are different tasks for the academic and the general training test takers in the writing test.
The task 1 of the academic writing test is a REPORT. There are various types of reports like the bar chart, pie chart, line graph, table, process, maps, diagrams, life cycles,etc.  The main points to note while writing a report are:
a. It has to be a short and descriptive one. 
b. All the significant features that you see in the t least 150 words
graph or the table have to be described.
c. You need to write an interpretation of what you see.
d. Avoid giving irrelevant details like your opinion or any sort of a conclusion of your own interpretation.

The task 1 in the writing section of the general training test is a letter.
a. Make sure that you read the question and understand why the letter is written.
b. There are 3 hints given to you along with the question. Read them and follow the hints in the appropriate tense.
c. Don't skip writing the introduction and the conclusion.
d. Write at least 150 words.
e. There are 3 basic types of letters - Formal, Semi-formal and Informal letters.
