Let us learn some essential tips that will help you in getting a high score in the IELTS general training test.

1. WRITE AT LEAST 150 WORDS.

2.  BE SPECIFIC AND CONVEY YOUR IDEAS CLEARLY.

3. YOU NEED NOT GIVE ANY ADDITIONAL DETAILS.

4. TRY TO COMPLETE WRITING A LETTER IN LESS THAN 20 MINUTES.

5. READ THE GIVEN PROMPT VERY CAREFULLY.

6. IDENTIFY THE TYPE OF LETTER. THIS IS A VERY ESSENTIAL STEP.

7.  TYPES OF LETTERS

a. FORMAL

b. SEMI – FORMAL

c. INFORMAL/ PERSONAL

8. UNDERSTAND THE PURPOSE OF WRITING THE LETTER.

9.  FOLLOW THE APPROPRIATE STRUCTURE - INTRODUCTION, 3 BODY PARAGRAPHS AND CONCLUSION.

10. SALUTATION IS VERY IMPORTANT.

A. FORMAL LETTER – DEAR SIR/MADAME,

B. SEMI – FORMAL LETTER – DEAR MR. THOMPSON,

C. INFORMAL LETTER – DEAR DAVE,

11.USING WORD CONTRACTIONS IN THE FORMAL AND THE SEMI – FORMAL LETTERS.

12. MUST USE WORD CONTRACTIONS IN AN INFORMAL LETTER.

13. USE A RANGE OF VOCABULARY AND SENTENCE STRUCTURES

14. USE THE RIGHT TENSE AS SPECIFIED IN THE QUESTION PROMPT.

15. PUNCTUATIONS ARE VERY IMPORTANT.
