IELTS ACADEMIC WRITING TASK 1 | PIE CHART |


The IELTS test is broadly divided in to four parts.
1.The listening test
2. The reading test
3. The writing test and 
4. The speaking test.
in this video, we will understand how to write a report based on the pie chart.
There are various tips that are discussed in this video. 
The task 1 of the academic writing test is a REPORT.

What is a report? 
A report is a brief summary of an info graph.  You should base your report on the visual data that you see.  You need to 
A.  Identify the kind of graph or the table 
B.  Interpret the data by highlighting the main points 
C.  Summarize the data.

There are four band descriptors which would be the criteria for marking.
1. Task achievement 
2. Coherence and cohesion 
3. Lexical resource 
4. Grammatical range and accuracy

 There are various types of reports like the bar chart, pie chart, line graph, table, process, maps, diagrams, life cycles,etc.  The main points to note while writing a report are:
a. It has to be a short and descriptive one. 
b. All the significant features that you see in the t least 150 words
graph or the table have to be described.
c. You need to write an interpretation of what you see.
d. Avoid giving irrelevant details like your opinion or any sort of a conclusion of your own interpretation.
